Bailey Chairs For Dogs

You might be asking yourself what is the Bailey Chairs for dogs and why is it important. The invention of this chair (see the videos below) has been a blessing to thousands of dog owners. This chair helps dogs eat who have Megaesophagus. The invention of this chair has saved thousands of canine lives over the past few years.

What is Megaesophagus
In the past, a diagnosis of Megaesophagus was usually a death sentence. Severe cases of the condition make it virtually impossible for a dog to hold down food and water. In a healthy dog, the esophagus is a muscular tube that pushes what is swallowed into the stomach.  A dog with Megaesophagus the ingested food sits in the esophagus within the chest cavity and never makes it to the stomach. A “Megaesophagus” is like a deflated balloon. It passively collects food and water until it can take no more, at which point the dog regurgitates all that he has just swallowed.

The invention of the Bailey Chair allows the esophagus to be used as a pipe to the stomach. By being in the vertical position the esophagus does not have to push food into the stomach. The food uses gravity to get from the mouth to the stomach and the dog avoids starvation.  The Bailey Chair allows vertical feeding but the canine still must remain in the chair for 20-30 minutes post feeding to allow gravity to work.
